Carversville Farm Round Up:
July 2

CFF DONATES TO URBAN TREE CONNECTION

Each year we plant tens of thousands of vegetable transplants on our farm and we inevitably end up with slightly more than we need to ensure we are never short, so what do we do? We donate them! CFF donated over 2000 seedlings to Nykisha Madison of Urban Tree Connection in Philadelphia. These extra plants will go a long way in the smaller scale urban gardens that Nykisha and Urban Tree Connection manage. Many of these transplants will also end up in the hands of community gardeners in parts of Philadelphia that are considered “food deserts”. By donating transplants, we are supporting the production of fresh, local produce in communities that lack access to fresh food options.

Beets – 1,400 plants
Onions – 550 plants
Tomato – 223 plants
Parsley – 200 plants
Eggplant – 72 plants
Basil – 26 plants

CARVERSVILLE FARM IS FEATURED AT CALEB’S AMERICAN KITCHEN and the RESTAURANT at barley sheaf fARM

Dining out in the area? Look for our produce included on the menu of two terrific local restaurants, Caleb’s American Kitchen and The Restaurant at Barley Sheaf Farm! We are thrilled to be working with such talented chefs to help spread awareness about our mission–to feed high quality food to the people who most need it. Please help them help us–go enjoy a delicious meal at either of these wonderful establishments and help support our very important clientele.

CARVERSVILLE FARM TEAMS UP WITH THE AMERICAN PASTURED POULTRY PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION.

Carversville Farm Foundation, along with farms in Rhode Island and Vermont, will be highlighted in two videos being produced by The American Pastured Poultry Producers Association (APPPA) about the ecological and health benefits of raising poultry on fresh pasture. We proudly raise all of our chickens and turkeys out on green grass, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to expand our knowledge with help from this national association of farmers across the US and Canada who raise their birds the same way. It was quite an honor to host APPPA earlier this month for a day of on-farm filming.  We’re very excited to see the final video later this year, and and happy to be helping other pastured poultry farmers while we serve our soup kitchen partners, too.
